Intermodal transportation records, 1963-1974.

The records are fragments from the files of William F. Kirk and Frederick R. Shafer under their various titles from 1968 to 1974. There is some material incorporated from Kirk's files as Assistant Vice President - Flexi-Van Services of the New York Central dating back to 1963. The files give a synopsis of some of the early developments of Flexi-Van and a summary of intermodal piggyback and container traffic during the Penn Central years.
